Los Angeles: Less than 1000 days left until 2028!

The countdown has begun — the four-digit days are now behind us.

A Strong Start: The Legacy of Paris 2024

Last year, Turkish Paralympic athletes made history at the 2024 Summer Paralympic Games. Participating with 94 athletes in Paris, our country achieved its highest ever medal count with 6 gold, 10 silver, and 12 bronze medals.
This table represents not just an achievement; it’s a tangible demonstration of the momentum of the Turkish Paralympic movement. While our athletes triumphed on the field, we showcased our national vision, organizational capabilities, and accessible sports culture to the world. We hosted the European Para Youth Games in Istanbul, and the beach games in Mersin… And now we continue on our path towards new goals.

LA28: Journey to New Horizons

The countdown to the 2028 Summer Paralympic Games (Los Angeles), to be held between August 15–27, 2028, has dropped to three digits. The event will be one of the most comprehensive in Paralympic history, with 560 medal events across 23 disciplines. Turkey is now not just a participating country, but a competing and winning one.

Preparation Strategies: We’ve Set Our Path

The success in Paris was just the beginning. Now our eyes are on LA28. Strategic steps to achieve this goal have already been taken:

• Our national classification processes have been updated and aligned with international standards.

• Coordination among our branches has been strengthened; systematic approaches have been implemented, ranging from young athletes to team discipline.

• Our experience hosting and organizing events — which we had in Istanbul and Mersin — formed the foundation of the LA28 vision. And for the first time, Turkish athletes took their first steps towards Los Angeles with classifications in their own country.

Los Angeles is not just a destination for our athletes; it’s a new beginning on the road to that goal. Turkey is not content with merely participating in the competitions; it is preparing to take its place on the podium, in the record books, and on the stage of the event. LA28 will also transform into a multi-sport journey to victory, showcasing our young talents in everything from para-athletics and paralympic weightlifting to swimming and archery.

Hakan Akkaya wins a Bronze Medal!

At the Para Fencing World Cup, held as part of the 2025 World Abilitysport Games in Thailand, our national fencer Hakan Akkaya achieved a significant success by winning a bronze medal in the Men’s Foil A category.

We wholeheartedly congratulate our athlete who reached the podium with her struggle and outstanding performance; and we congratulate the Turkish Fencing Federation, its technical team and coaches for this valuable achievement.
